Transform Data

Pivot, reshape, and apply column-level transformations. Add, rename, hide, and reorder columns from a single panel, and preview every change instantly.

Overview

Every table you open in the transformation workspace can be reshaped before you save, export, or sync it. Column-level changes-adding, renaming, hiding, and reordering-are all made from the Columns panel, and the Data Preview updates immediately so you can confirm the result before moving on.

Add Columns

Add Column creates a new column in the active table. Use it for calculated values, derived fields, default values, or columns required by a destination system.

Add Column opens a builder where you name the column and define the value, expression, or formula used to populate it.

Steps

  1. Open a table in the transformation workspace.
  2. Click Add Column in the toolbar.
  3. Enter a name for the new column.
  4. Configure the value, expression, or formula used to populate the column.
  5. Apply the change and review the generated values in the Data Preview.

Rename Columns

Rename columns directly in the Output columns panel to make field names clearer, standardize naming conventions, or match the requirements of a destination system.

Steps

  1. Click Columns in the toolbar to open the Output columns panel.
  2. Locate the column you want to rename.
  3. Edit its name directly in the text field.
  4. Click Apply Column Changes.
  5. Review the updated column name in the Data Preview.

Use clear, consistent column names and avoid duplicates. Double-check naming requirements before exporting to an external system.

Hide Columns

Hide columns you don't need while working with a large dataset. Hidden columns stay out of the Data Preview and are excluded from exports until you show them again.

Steps

  1. Click Columns in the toolbar to open the Output columns panel.
  2. Find the column you want to hide.
  3. Click the eye icon next to it to toggle its visibility.
  4. Use Hide all or Show all to toggle every column at once.
  5. Click Apply Column Changes and confirm the column is hidden in the Data Preview.

Hiding a column only affects the workspace view and outputs- it doesn't delete data. Re-enable visibility any time to bring the column back.

Rearrange Columns

Reorder columns to control how fields appear in the dataset- useful when preparing data for reports, exports, or systems that require a specific column order.

Steps

  1. Click Columns in the toolbar to open the Output columns panel.
  2. Locate the column you want to move.
  3. Drag it by the handle (⠿) on the left of its row to the required position.
  4. Repeat for any additional columns.
  5. Click Apply Column Changes and review the updated order in the Data Preview.

Data Preview

The Data Preview shows the current state of your active table- row count, query time, column names, order, and generated values-so you can confirm the result of a transformation before saving or exporting.
