Overview

Diagnostics opens as a side panel next to the Data Preview, summarizing the file you have open. It shows the total row and column counts, an overall quality percentage, and a breakdown of data types across your columns. Use it to spot issues-like inconsistent types or missing values-before you build a template or export the file downstream.

Open Diagnostics

Diagnostics sits alongside Query Results in a panel you can expand, shrink, or close as needed.

The panel opens automatically after a file loads, or whenever you run a new query.

Steps

  1. Open a file in the transformation workspace.
  2. The Diagnostics panel appears on the right automatically.
  3. Use the expand icon to view it full-screen, or the X to close it and reopen it later from the toolbar.

Read the Overview Tab

The Overview tab gives you the headline numbers for the file at a glance.

What you'll see

  • Total Rows and Total Columns for the currently loaded file or query result.
  • A Data Type Distribution chart showing the share of string, number, date, and other types across columns.
  • The overall Quality percentage badge at the top of the panel.

Check the Quality Score

The quality score reflects how clean and consistent your data is-lower scores usually mean missing values, mixed types within a column, or duplicate rows.

Steps

  1. Click the Quality tab inside the Diagnostics panel.
  2. Review flagged issues, grouped by column or by issue type.
  3. Jump back to Filter Data or a transform step to fix what's flagged, if needed.

A quality score under 100% doesn't always mean something is wrong-some source files naturally have gaps, like optional fields left blank.

Review the Columns Tab

See a per-column breakdown, including detected data type and any notable patterns.

Steps

  1. Click the Columns tab inside Diagnostics.
  2. Scroll through each column's detected type, such as string, number, or date.
  3. Use this to confirm a column is being read the way you expect before mapping or exporting it.

Use the Explorer Tab

Explorer lets you dig into the underlying values behind the charts and scores shown in Overview and Quality.

Steps

  1. Click Explorer inside the Diagnostics panel.
  2. Select a column or metric to see its underlying value distribution.
  3. Use what you find here to decide whether a column needs cleanup before saving a template.

Run Diagnostics again after applying a filter or transform-the Overview, Quality, and Columns tabs all update to reflect the current result, not the original file.

Switch to Query Results

Toggle to Query Results at the top of the panel to see the raw output of your last query, alongside the Diagnostics view.

Steps

  1. Click Query Results next to the Diagnostics tab at the top of the panel.
  2. Review the returned rows from your most recent AI SQL Assistant query or manual query.
  3. Switch back to Diagnostics anytime to see the health check for that same result.
