FTP/SFTP

Connect an FTP or SFTP server to import files straight into your workspace, and export transformed files back out.

Overview

An FTP/SFTP connection works both ways: browse a connected server to pull files into Upload Data Files, or push files from Transformed Files back out to it.

Connect an FTP/SFTP Server

Add a server under Data Adapters → FTP/SFTP → Configure. This opens the Configure FTP/SFTP Connector dialog.

Configure your FTP server connection details

Connection Name *

e.g. My FTP Server

Protocol

FTP or SFTP (SSH)

Host *

e.g. ftp.example.com

Port

Defaults to 21 for FTP; changes automatically for SFTP

Username

e.g. anonymous, or an assigned account

Password

Password for the account above

Base Path

Default directory to browse when connecting, e.g. /

Use FTPS (TLS/SSL)

Toggle on to enable an encrypted connection

Steps

  1. Choose a Protocol-FTP or SFTP (SSH)-then fill in the Host, Username, and Password.
  2. Set a Base Path if you want the browser to open a specific folder by default.
  3. For FTP, turn on Use FTPS (TLS/SSL) if your server supports an encrypted connection.
  4. Click Test Connection, then Save Connector.

Browse & Import Files

Once connected, pull files in from Upload Data Files → FTP/SFTP.

Select a saved connection to see its folders and files-such as CSV, TXT, or XML files-with size shown next to each one. Use the folder rows to navigate deeper, and the back arrow to move up a level.

Steps

  1. Select the connection you want to browse from the list at the top.
  2. Open folders to navigate to the files you need.
  3. Check the box next to one or more files, or click the download icon on a single file to import it directly.

Uploads follow the same rules as a local upload: CSV, TXT, XML, and Excel (.xlsx, .xls) are supported, files up to 50MB, and headers should be in the first row.

Automate Imports with Auto-Sync

Auto-Sync Monitor watches a folder on your server and imports new files automatically, even while you're away.

Steps

  1. Turn on the Auto-Sync Monitor toggle for the connection you want to watch.
  2. Open Configuration to set which folder to watch and how often to check it.
  3. Use the pause icon to stop monitoring temporarily, or the refresh icon to check for new files right away.
  4. Open Sync Logs to see a history of what was imported automatically.

Because Auto-Sync runs server-side, it keeps importing on schedule even if you close the browser tab.

Export Transformed Files

To send a finished file back out to your server, go to Transformed Files and use Export to FTP.

Steps

  1. Open Transformed Files and find the file you want to send.
  2. Click Export to FTP in the toolbar, choose a connection and destination folder, and confirm.
